Classical Figurative Drawing Demonstration
by Lacey Lewis

Partially Completed Drawing
I continue to shade areas adjacent to the torso, comparing and adjusting values as I go along. I also continue to adjust my original line drawing as I find errors, and further develop the contours. Notice the difference between the lines of the forward hand and the shin.
Work In Progress Drawing Detail
In the above image, you can see both some developed lines and shading and sone lines that have still not been finalized. My original measuring lines are also visible beneath the toes and hand.
In Progress Head Detail - Drawing
I've begun to sketch in the features of the face. This is difficult to do since this area on the real drawing is less than two inches tall, so an error of even a millimeter is fairly large.
Detail of Foot in Figurative Drawing
Again, both soft and hard lines are visible in this detail image. Also notice the slightly directional quality of shading marks, and how they follow the form's surface.
Figurative Drawing In Progress
At this stage most of the value and contour work has been completed. In addition to the remaining shading that must be done, some other important aspects still need to be addressed.
